University Library City Centre: access gates

All visitors (UG internal and external) need to present their access cards at the access gates at all times when entering and exiting the building. Please note this may cause some inconvenience.

Passing the access gates: step by step.
DO NOT share your access card with someone else! You can only check in once; if you try to check in twice, the gate will lock automatically.

Access to the UB City Centre per target group

The University Library City Centre is a public building ; exceptions are the so-called UG only-weeks in exam periods, in which only University of Groningen students and staff and other library user with an access card may enter the building (see below).

The permanent activation of the access gates will allow us to monitor the amount of visitors present in the building. This is important in emergency situations.

  1. UG students and staff
Owners of a University card can access the building through the gates at all times.
Present your card at the 'standard' gates, do NOT use the barcode readers!
  2. UMCG staff
first have to activate their UMCG pass at the Central Medical Library.
After that, one can access the UB building through the gates on the far right-hand side; there is a barcode scanner installed here.
  3. Students and staff of Hanzehogeschool
Owners of a Hanzepass can access the building through the gates on the far right-hand side; there is a barcode scanner installed here.
Please note: Four times a year, the UB City Centre is only accessible for UG students and staff .
  4. Owners of a Martinikaart and other library pass holders
can access the building through the gates on the far right-hand side; there is a barcode scanner installed here.
  5. Other visitors
