University Library: access gates

The permanent activation of the access gates will allow us to monitor the amount of visitors present in the building. This is important in emergency situations.

Access to the UB per target group

Other visitors*

UG students and staff
Owners of a University card can access the building through the gates at all times.
Present your card at the 'standard' gates, do NOT use the barcode readers!
  1. UMCG staff
    Please report to the Facility Desk; we will open the gates for you.
  2. Students and staff of Hanzehogeschool
    Scan your Hanzepass with the barcode scanner at the 'Non-RUG'-gates.
  3. Owners of a Martinicard and other library card holders
    Scan your card with the barcode scanner at the 'Non-RUG'-gates.
  4. Other visitors
    Guests wanting to visit our Special Collections or other departments or events in the library can report at the Facility Desk (ground floor). This also applies to former UG-employees.

*Please note: Four times a year, during the UG-only weeks in the exam periods, the UB is only accessible for UG students and staff.

5. Do not share your card with anyone else! You can only check in once; if you try to check in twice, the gate will lock automatically.
