What we do
Centre for PPE
The Centre for Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) stimulates and facilitates interdisciplinary research at the interface of philosophy, political theory and economics. The Centre brings together research from the Faculties of Philosophy and Economics and Business as well as other faculties at the University of Groningen. The Centre harbours expertise in political theory, in philosophical disciplines such as ethics, philosophy of science and social epistemology, in financial ethics and monetary and financial economics, and in sociology and social psychology.
Activities in the centre
The Centre is a platform for senior researchers, postdocs and PhD students from these faculties, and it facilitates seminars, workshops and conferences as well as an annual Ethics and Economics lecture by a high-profile speaker. It hosts international visiting scholars, and extends existing connections with major international partners in Europe, the US and elsewhere. Exploiting existing ties between the Faculties of Philosophy, and Economics and Business, research programmes are developed in collaboration with the corporate world, governmental institutions at national and European levels and with non-profit organizations.
Master’s in PPE
One of the major activities of the Centre for PPE is its involvement in setting up the MA programme on Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Read more about the programme.
