About us FEB About us Teaching philosophy

Our teaching philosophy

At the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), in Groningen, we aim to enhance our students’ knowledge and competences to prepare them for jobs of the future and to enable them to navigate and impact economic, business, and societal challenges; on regional and (inter)national level.

We are an on-campus-based faculty. Forward-thinking and research-driven education are the pillars of our education. Students are progressively engaged in all aspects of research during their studies, while addressing current global challenges. We aim for graduates who can ask the right questions, think critically, solve complex problems, and make connections to generate impact in research and business.

Over the past years, FEB has been working on ensuring that our education remains ahead of the curve. We have renewed our curriculum, with the following themes continuing to be at the forefront of our improvements and implemented in our Bachelor’s and Master’s study programmes:

  • Ethics, responsibility and sustainability
  • Digital business, data science and analytics
  • Internalization, diversity and inclusion
  • Blended and active learning
  • Employability and professional skills
  • Research-driven education

Our vision on teaching and learning

Following on the above-mentioned teaching philosophy, FEB has formulated the following seven educational ambitions:

  1. FEB provides state-of-the-art knowledge exchange with students through excellent blended education.
  2. At FEB, students are actively involved in their own learning process.
  3. FEB, as part of a research university, progressively engages students in all aspects of research during their studies (research-driven education) being trained as ambitious academically schooled professionals.
  4. FEB embeds intercultural, and global elements across its curriculum and lets students collaborate, communicate and reflect on how they engage with others.
  5. FEB enhances students’ capacity to take up their ethical and social responsibilities in their field of study while creating awareness for environmental and sustainability issues facing society.
  6. FEB further enhances students’ employability by connecting them to the world of practice and by developing skills, knowledge and attitudes to prepare them for their future careers.
  7. FEB strives to be an open, inspiring, inclusive, and safe study environment.
