Bring your UG card
To access the UB Zernike Self-Service, you need your UG card. Hold it in front of the card reader to open the door. Having trouble accessing? Please visit the reception desk on the ground floor. You will also need your UG card to use the Self-Service device for collecting books.
Collecting and returning books
At the UB Zernike Self-Service, you can:

Return all your borrowed books in the book box.

Pick up and check out requested books via the Self-Service machine (UG card required).
Compulsory literature
At the UB Zernike Self-Service, you can consult or borrow the compulsory literature for Economics and Business, Spatial Sciences, and Science and Engineering. The rest of the collection can be requested via Smartcat.
When consulting a book, you may take it outside the Self-Service area, but not outside the reading room. After use, please return it to the shelf or place it in the returns box.

How to use the Self-Service machine?

Scan your UG card barcode.

Place the book in the square on the table (one at a time for multiple books).

Wait until the title appears on the screen.

Press END to finish.
Forgot to check out a book? The alarm will go off at the exit gates. In that case, return to the Self-Service area and check out the book.
Pick up a reserved book
Have you requested a book via SmartCat (pickup location: UB Zernike Self-Service)? On weekdays, reserved books are prepared for you at the end of the morning. You will receive a notification once your book is ready in the Self-Service reservation cabinet.
Books are arranged alphabetically by your last name in the reservation cabinet. Please check out the book using the Self-Service machine. Note: IBL books (books not from the UB) can only be collected at UB Binnenstad.
