Are you dreading a painful divorce? Feeling stuck in a job that leaves you unfulfilled? Have you lost your faith but feel unable to leave your religious community? These are all situations that point to a fundamental right: the freedom to leave. Walking away is rarely easy. People face all kinds of barriers - financial, social, emotional. This talk explores why leaving can be so difficult and how we can meaningfully guarantee the freedom to leave. The answer is simple but powerful: exit shouldn't just be possible - it should be fair.

Climate change, poverty, labour exploitation… our world is full of injustice. We like to think that we can change it through making more ethical choices, but is this possible? In this talk, you learn about “structural injustice.” You will hear that structures constrain our choices – we are not fully free to make ethical choices. Not only that, but making better individual choices is not enough. So who is really responsible for structural injustice and what are more promising strategies for change?
