During Liberation Day Festival on the 5th of May, the University of Groningen (RUG) will be at the Stadspark with its own spot on the festival grounds: the RUG Science Space. In this unique area – built from two shipping containers and the mobile RUG Speech Lab – visitors can experience science in a surprisingly accessible way.
From ten-minute flash lectures to art installations, mini-workshops, live demonstrations, and short films – RUG researchers bring the theme of Freedom to life from a variety of perspectives: political, cultural, philosophical, economic, and more. All in a relaxed festival atmosphere, with seating areas, picnic tables, and space for interaction around the central theme: Freedom.
The RUG Science Space is an initiative of the Young Academy Groningen (YAG) and the Faculty of Arts.

In this talk, you learn about “structural injustice.” You will hear that structures constrain our choices – we are not fully free to make ethical choices. Not only that, but making better individual choices is not enough. So who is really responsible for structural injustice and what are more promising strategies for change?
