Research interests

Philippe has over 15 years of experience as an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practitioner, researcher and lecturer. He has a Bachelor and Master degree in social anthropology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), and has a PhD in cultural geography from the University of Groningen (Netherlands). Focusing on symbolic anthropology, interethnic relations and social movements, he teaches human geography in the Faculty of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen and is a consultant on social impact assessment and project adequacy to culturally differentiated groups. His professional background includes private sector, International Finance Institutions (IFIs), consultancy, NGOs and scientific research. He is skilled in applying and verifying environmental & social safeguards and international benchmark standards in industries such as Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Mining, Logistics, Oil & Gas and Infrastructure.
