Those athletes performing best during adulthood, were not necessarily the best at younger age. Therefore, the search for young talent should not only focus on current performance, but also on performance potential in adulthood. In my PhD-project I aim to develop a multidisciplinary model to estimate performance potential of talented speed skaters in the age spend of 12-18 years old, based on anthropometrical, physical, technical, tactical and psychological characteristics.
