Curriculum Vitae


Frank Hindriks (1974) studied philosophy and economics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam (EUR). After receiving an MLitt. Degree in philosophy from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), he became Assistant-Director of the Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics (EIPE). He defended his PhD thesis Rules and Institutions: Essays on Meaning, Speech Acts and Social Ontology at the EUR in June 2005. Subsequently he participated as a postdoctoral researcher in the VICI-project Modelling Freedom at the University of Groningen. In December 2007 he was awarded a VENI grant by the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) for his research project Normativity in Action: A New Theory of Moral Responsibility  [PDF] . Since July 2008 he is assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen. He has published in journals such as Economics and Philosophy, ErkenntnisPhilosophical Quarterly, and Philosophical Studies.
