Next Generation Sequencer

15 januari 2009

In 2008 the UMCG was awarded a grant for the LifeLines program. Part of this grant was to cover the purchase of a next generation sequencer. This sequencer has now been installed in the Department of Genetics laboratory.

This new instrument will enable studies to be performed that were not even imaginable just a few years ago. Researchers will now be able to sequence complete genomes in a short period of time, or to search for mutations in multiple genes in a large cohort of patients.

Researchers at the UMCG and RUG will have access to this instrument, and are encouraged to contact the Genome Analysis Facility, Department of Genetics, if they would like to discuss projects in the area of Next Generation Sequencing.
