A brief exposition of artificial neural networks is presented, emphasizing the important characteristics related to biomedical applications. Then, critically and generalization in medical diagnostic systems are considered. Following that, typical examples in biomedicine are briefly considered. Finally, some work from the research done in Cyprus that is related to medical diagnostic systems is presented.
