PhD Student Council

bcn logo

The BCN PhD student council is set up to represent all PhD students and to promote their interests within the BCN research school. This includes keeping a keen eye on the quality of the educational program, as well as improving and increasing communication between the BCN board and PhD students. In regular meetings with the Educational Committee the BCN PhD student council represent the students interests to the best of their abilities. In this manner they try to get their ideas concerning "life within BCN" implemented whenever possible.

Biannually they send out a survey to all BCN PhD students in order to get information and opinions from them on a range of work related issues (teaching, supervision, courses, etc.) and other topics. If you have any suggestions in the meantime for the improvement of specific courses or the program in general, don't hesitate to contact them at bcnphdcouncil@list.rug.nl or to send an e-mail to one of the members (see next page). Please note that for individual difficulties with (e.g.) your supervisor, it is best to contact the BCN Scientific Coordinator.

In addition to work done concerning the education program, the BCN PhD student council organizes some social events at which BCN PhD Students can meet each other. The BCN social program is published on the BCN website, where you also can sign up to receive invitations by email for the activities. Of course, anyone can initiate fun things if they want to, and they are glad if someone does.
