International Conference on Tobacco, Law and Human Rights: crossing borders, spaces and substances

We organize an international conference on tobacco, law and human rights. The conference will take place on 12-13 May, 2022 at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
The conference exists of three themes:
1) Novel smoke-free policies (Day 1)
2) Human rights protection and accountability in tobacco control: lessons by and for European institutions (Day 2)
3) The interplay between the regulation of tobacco, cannabis and/or alcohol (Day 2)

- Prof. Stefania Negri (Associate Professor, UNISA School of Law)
- Dr. Jasper Been (Pediatrician-neonatologist, Erasmus Medical Center)
- Wanda de Kanter (Pulmonologist, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Netherlands Cancer Institute, and activist against the tobacco industry)
- Prof. Aoife Nolan (Professor International Human Rights Law, University of Nottingham)
- Florence Berteletti (Secretary-General of Eurocare)

FAQ's
Can I register to attend only online?
Unfortunately not. We organize a physical onsite conference. Alternatives such as a hybrid conference does not fit the purpose of our conference, which is networking, opening-up discussions and shaping future research agendas.
What is the conference venue?
The conference is taking place at the Puddingfabriek, close to the train station in Groningen (10 min walk) and the city center (15 min walk). The address of the conference venue is Viaductstraat 3, Groningen, the Netherlands.
Are there any recommended hotels/discounted rates?
There are no hotels with discounted rates specifically for this conference. Please view Visit Groningen for a list of accommodation available in the City of Groningen.
Are there any COVID-19 restrictions in the Netherlands?
Nearly all coronavirus measures have been lifted. Only the following measure still applies:
Face masks at airports and on planes
Face masks must still be worn on planes and at airports beyond the security checkpoint.
