Prof. Dimitry Kochenov's 'The Enforcement of EU Law and Values' published by Oxford University Press

15 March 2017

Prof. Dimitry Kochenov's new volume, edited in co-operation with Prof. András Jakab of the Hungarian Academy has been published last week by Oxford University Press. The book, entitled 'The Enforcement of EU Law and Values' is a meticulous study of all the available enforcement tools in the context of EU law, approaching the issue from a comparative perspective.

The enforcement of EU law and values

Particular attention is paid to the assessment of the legal tools of tackling democratic backsliding, like the one we are witnessing in Hungary and Poland. 28 chapters were written by the key authorities in their respective fields, from our own Professor Laurence Gormley, writing on the infringement proceedings, to Prof. Jan-Werner Müller (Princeton), Mark Tushnet (Harvard Law School), Armin von Bogdandy (Max Planck, Heidelberg), Morten Broberg (Copenhagen) and many many others.

The volume is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Norbert Reich, one of the most inspirational contributors to the book, whose chapter was in production when he passed away.

The book launch is taking place at the Central European University (Budapest) on Saturday, March 18.
This volume is the second in a series of three edited works with the leading publishers Prof. Kochenov is releasing this year, following 'Reinforcing Rule of Law Oversight in the EU' edited with Carlos Closa and published by Cambridge last November. It is to be followed by 'EU Citizenship and Federalism', appearing next month, also with Cambridge University Press.
