ICS Lustrum symposium

Wanneer:vr 02-09-2016 10:00 - 17:00
Waar:Utrecht, Leeuwenbergh

In 2016 the ICS exists 30 years.

The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) was founded in 1986, originating in interuniversity cooperation as a PhD network subsidized by the Dutch Ministry of Education. In 1993 the ICS was, as the first research school in the social sciences, accredited by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and has been accredited up till today.

The ICS is proud to celebrate its 30-year anniversary and invites all current and former ICS colleagues to join in the lustrum symposium in Utrecht on September 2nd. The program is very promising and starts with an excellent key note speaker: Duncan Watts, former professor of Sociology at Columbia University and now principal researcher at MicroSoft, and famous to many by his books Everything is Obvious, Small Worlds, and Six Degrees.

Three other speakers in the program are former ICS PhDs, currently holding a Chair at the universities of Wageningen, Amsterdam, and Nijmegen: Hilde Bras (yeargroup 1995), Herman van de Werfhorst (1996), and Gert Westert (1987).

The last part of the program is reserved for a meet & greets session of ICS alumni and current PhD students, accompanied by drinks for all participants. The program takes place at the historic site of Leeuwenbergh, and is concluded by a festive dinner buffet. Please find attached a preliminary program. We hope to meet you all in Utrecht on September 2nd in Utrecht. Please subscribe via s.simon@rug.nl
