Going Google Apps for Education

Going Google

For several years the University of Groningen offers a special e-mail-for-life-account to our alumni. On 2 July 2013, the university introduced Google Apps for Education. This means there has changed something in your University-account. This change will enable the University to offer students and alumni a new, modern working environment. For more information on how to go Google .

What is Google Apps for Education?

Google Apps for Education gives students and alumni access to an account including e-mail (Gmail), calendar (Google Calendar), chat (Google Talk), documents (Google Drive) and web pages (Google Sites). This YouTube film clearly sets out the possibilities of Google Apps for Education.

Why change to Google Apps for Education?

With the rise of various internet-linked devices, including laptops, smartphones and tablets people feel the need to be online regardless of time and place has grown. Google Apps for Education offers different tools that enable this.

What is going to happen?

Since 2 July, alumni have access to a new Google Apps for Education account of the University of Groningen. If you already have an e-mail-for-life-account you will have to log in with your s-number or a-number and password at . You then have access to a Google mailbox where your mail will be delivered. Your e-mail address remains the same. If you do not have an alumnus account yet you can apply for one here.
