My role will be centered on Work Package 4 within the 'GUIDE-BEST' (Antarctica) project, which aims to understand individual drivers of expectations and behaviors to promote sustainable tourism in Antarctica. Recently, there has been an increase in Antarctic tourism, leading more travelers returning as 'Antarctic ambassadors', experiencing a significant transformation in their lives. These individuals develop a deep appreciation for Antarctica, inspiring them to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and advocate for environmental conservation. I will be exploring what being an 'Antarctic ambassador' really means and the motivations behind this transformation. Additionally, I plan to investigate the behavioral changes tourists experience before and after their Antarctic visits in the upcoming months.
