O.J. (Oskar Josef) Gstrein, Dr

Associate Professor 'Human Dignity in the Digital Age'; Programme Director BSc Data Science and Society; 'Data Autonomy' Theme Coordinator Jantina Tammes School; Deputy Department Head Governance and Innovation

Expertise

My academic work and passion are dedicated to the overarching theme ‘Human Dignity in the Digital Age’.

I study the transition from abstract principles (e.g. human rights, ethical principles, governance principles) into more detailed and specific governance frameworks (e.g. human right to privacy into GDPR, AI ethics into EU AI Act, security-related governance principles into Predictive Policing guidelines).

With my interdisciplinary background in law and philosophy, I work in the department of Governance and Innovation at the faculty Campus Fryslân, where I serve as deputy department head and programme director of the BSc Data Science and Society.
