Supervisor: Dr. Fred Wubs (JBI)

Fred Wubs studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente and worked on his PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science at the CWI.  After defending his thesis at the University of Amsterdam in 1987, he  moved to Groningen to become assistant professor, which turned over into associate professor later on.

His research interests are: (i) the solution of linear systems with large sparse matrices, (ii) eigenvalue computations of large sparse matrices, (iii) accurate and stable discretization of partial differential equations, (iv) parallel computing, (v) fluid flow computations, (vi) bifurcation analysis and (vii) stability study of ocean flow circulations subject to stochastic forcing.
