The research programme of PRC, entitled "Population change, Health, Culture and Space", refers to research on the issues of population and health as embedded in the socio-cultural and spatial context in which people live. The research is part of and fits within the research programme of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences entitled towards Well-being, Innovation and Spatial Transformation (tWIST)

 

Major characteristics of the research programme are:

• Research is conducted both at the macro (population) and micro level (the demographic behaviour of people)
• Research is conducted from the multi-disciplinary perspectives of demography, epidemiology, regional sciences, anthropology, geography, social ageing and nutrition
• Both quantitative and qualitative research methods are applied such as population projections, life table analysis; spatial and regional analysis; survey analysis; in-depth interviews, focus group discussions and observation.
• Research focuses on both building the body of scientific knowledge and on the translation of research into policies or interventions
