This Wednesday, Effy Ntemou won the UG Three Minute Thesis Competition. The PhD student at the Center for Language and Cognition held a three-minute-long presentation, in which she eagerly and comprehensibly described her research. Ntemou researches how linguists can help brain surgeons to efficiently remove brain tumours without damaging the person's language abilities.

The jury members were unanimously enthusiastic about her performance; in their eyes, Ntemou explained the relevance of her research, her speech was informative, and her verbal and non-verbal communication was strong. The single slide she had was also very informative.

Elok Malay was the runner-up. The Audience Prize was awarded jointly to Wendy Oost and Aranka Ballering. Ntemou will represent the UG at the European 3MT finale in Padova.
