University of Groningen College Tour event with Dr. Noeleen Heyzer (on 6 March)
On Thursday the 6th of March 2014, a College Tour event will be held at the Aula of the Academy Building in order to honour dr. Noeleen Heyzer on the evening before she will receive the Aletta Jacobs Prize for her work on emancipation.
Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, the Under Secretary General of the United Nations, will receive the Aletta Jacobs Prize for her work on emancipation. The Aletta Jacobs Prize is a biannual prize that is handed out by the University of Groningen to someone who has significantly contributed to woman’s emancipation. Over the years, dr. Noeleen Heyzer has played an important role in various international issues concerning equal rights for men and women.
College Tour
At the RUG College Tour event, prof. Thea Hilhorst will be the host, interviewing dr. Noeleen Heyzer. Thea Hilhorst is a rural development sociologist specialized in natural disasters, conflict and humanitarian aid at Wageningen University. Because of her background and familiarity with the topics of the evening, she will be able to ask dr. Noeleen Heyzer the right questions, with input from the audience.
The RUG College Tour is an opportunity for students to learn more about the fascinating work of dr. Noeleen Heyzer. There will also be a Meet & Greet with dr. Noeleen Heyzer for the students who submit the most interesting questions.
The event will be held at the Aula of the Academy Building of the University of Groningen (Broerstraat 5).
The doors are open from 19.30, the RUG College Tour will be from 20.00 to 21.30. Afterwards there will be time for drinks. Admission for the RUG College Tour is free.
