Enzyme recycling

17 April 2013

Eric Benjamins is a researcher for Friesland Campina and the Carbohydrate Competence Center (CCC), a University-associated research institute that studies carbohydrates. He is working on an enzyme system that converts lactose from dairy milk into galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), which are marketed as an ingredient for baby formula. Benjamins is investigating whether the enzyme can be used more than once, thus reducing costs for the manufacturer.

The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
