The selection committee
The Faculty of Arts has established a pre-selection committee chaired by the dean of the faculty. The pre-selection committee makes a short list of outstanding candidates.
The University Board has established a selection committee, the Central University Committee (CUC). CUC makes recommendations to the Board of the University.
Recruitment

The advertisement will be / has been published in the magazine Nature, in the Dutch newspapers de Volkskrant and NRC Handelsblad, and on the University's website.

Selection criteria
The fellowships are open for female candidates who are not tenured staff members of the University of Groningen.
Research
- The candidate must have an exemplary research record, as demonstrated by her doctoral dissertation and by publications in international top journals of research in the humanities.
- The candidate must have experience in various working environments, including a succesfull postdoc period at a foreign research institute.
- The candidate must enjoy international recognition and independence as demonstrated by contributions to international meetings and co-operation (e.g. joint publications, the organization of academic meetings and/or editorships, participation in international congresses as invited speaker).
- The candidate must have successfully applied for external funding for her own research and has been awarded at least one substantial grant.
- The candidate should preferably have been involved in supervising at least one PhD student.
Teaching
- The candidate must have relevant teaching experience.
- The candidate must within a reasonable period of time contribute in such a way to courses taught at the faculty that the teaching duties will cover 60% of the appointment.
General
- The candidate has her PhD, and preferably seceral years experience as a post doc;
- The candidate presents a challenging and innovative research proposal related to the research profile of the Faculty of Arts (3-5 pages);
- The candidate's field of expertise fits in the research and education profile of the Faculty.
- The candidate must have demonstrable organizational qualities;
- A candidate who is not a native speaker of English must be proficient in English to level C1/C2;
- A candidate who is not a native Dutch speaker must be prepared to learn Dutch within two years.

The candidates are required to submit:
- a letter of motivation
- a curriculum vitae, including a complete list of publications
- up to five keywords describing their research area
- a three-to-five page statement of their research accomplishments and their future research goals

Selection procedure
On the basis of these application, the pre-selection committee will select outstanding candidates for a first round of interviews. The candidates invited for an interview will be asked to provide copies of two to three key publications and are expected to give a lecture for the committee and other interested parties.
The pre-selection committee will ask at least two independent referees to assess the candidates. If necessary, an assessment may be part of the procedure.
The pre-selection committee will make a recommendation to the Faculty Board. After approval, the Faculty Board will send the recommendation on to the Central University Committee (CUC).
The CUC will assess whether or not the candidates match the criteria for a Rosalind Franklin Fellowship, and if so pass on the recommendation to the Board of the University. The Board of the University awards the fellowships.
