AdmissionEurocultureEducational background and other requirementsThe Euroculture programme is open to students who have graduated from an accredited university with an internationally recognized Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences. A certified* copy of the degree certificate should be uploaded on the online application form on http://www.euroculturemaster.org. If the certificate is not in English, French, German or Latin, a certified translation in English must also be provided. * certified means: a copy with original stamps or seals
Since the programme is taught entirely in English in Groningen, non-native speakers of English must also provide proof of English proficiency (see: language requirements). Relevant extra-curricular activities (relevant internships or work placements, work experience, courses etc.) and international experience are taken into consideration during the selection procedure.
Selection procedureThe programme has a limited number of places (20). The participation of both European and non-European students to the programme is encouraged. Students will be selected on the basis of an assessment of their educational background, proficiency in the English language, résumé, (relevant work) experiences and motivation. This will be done by the Groningen Selection Committee on the basis of network selection guidelines and criteria. Evaluation of the degree certificate and transcript of records is part of the selection procedure. For the evaluation of non-Dutch degrees the guidelines of assessment of degrees provided by the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation (NUFFIC) are used. In order to be admitted to the Euroculture programme in Groningen, students need a degree which is at least the equivalent to a Bachelor degree of a Dutch University (please note: a Bachelor degree from a Higher Vocational Education (Hogerberoepsonderwijs) institution is not sufficient) or Master’s (or ‘doctoraal’) degree. The Admission Board will select the 20 best qualified applicants. In addition, approx. 20 candidates will be positioned on a reserve list. It has occured in the past that students who have been admitted had to withdraw before the start of the programme. In such cases applicants from the reserve list will be invited to attend the programme. Students who intend to apply for any type of scholarship and therefore require an admission letter should submit their online application (on http://www.euroculturemaster.org) before January 1, 2011. In this case, the applicant already has to hold a degree when applying. If eligible, such students will receive a provisional acceptance letter to be used for the purpose of applying for a scholarship. Only after the official selection procedures to be held in May definite selections will be made and official letters of admission will then be provided.
