The arts and cultural courses in Groningen focus on classical and modern expressions of art, architecture, culture and the means of expressions ('media').
Arts, culture and media (Ba and Ma; main language of instruction is Dutch)
The central theme in Arts, culture and media is the study of the arts and their functions. The programme covers four art disciplines: literature, theatre, film (cinema and tv), and music (classical and modern). A key role is given to the media in a culture (the means used by the artists to express their arts). This study programme is unique in the Netherlands. A combination with a fifth discipline 'the visual arts' is possible. Course modules on this topic are lectured by staff of the department of Art History.
