The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Groningen is a leading European institution for the study of religion. We offer a fully English taught Bachelor's degree programme in Religious Studies and the English taught exchange programme Religion and Culture .
We are proud to be ranked as the best teaching and research centre for religion in the Netherlands. We are committed to highest standards in critical academic research, and we translate our research into stimulating and cutting-edge teaching programmes. We train students to be independent and critical observers of the place of religion in its cultural and historical context, and we prepare them for the job market.
The Faculty, located in a beautiful historical building in the centre of town, is a truly international environment. Half of the teaching staff is international, and a large percentage of the Master’s students come from abroad. We are committed to the idea of an international classroom and work with small classes that provide close collaboration between teachers and students. The Faculty is a major hub in a large international network of partner universities; as a student, you can directly profit from these networks that connect Groningen to research and teaching centres worldwide.
