Three ERC Starting Grants awarded
The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded an ERC Starting Grant of EUR 1,5 million to three researchers at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (formerly known as the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences):
- Prof. Gerard Roelfes, Stratingh Institute for Chemistry for research on “ Modular Assembly of DNA-based systems; bio-inspired artificial allosteric assemblies";
- Prof. Caspar van der Wal, Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, for his research entitled “Quantum Optics with Spins in Solid State: The Power of Ensembles”;
- and Dr. Sybren Otto, Stratingh Institute for Chemistry, for research on "Self Replication in Dynamic Molecular Networks".
The ERC Starting Grant is a prestigious European research grant for individual researchers conducting innovative research. The grant enables them to develop a research program and appoint PhD students.
