International Office / International Students

Welcome to the website of the International Office of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences of the University of Groningen. The International Office offers various courses as well as excursions for visiting international students, and provides information for Dutch students in search of study abroad and student exchange options. Each of the sections below brings you to a new section of our website.

1. Visiting the Faculty of Spatial Sciences as an exchange student

The Faculty of Spatial Sciences welcomes exchange students (for example, participants in Erasmus+ or participants in bilateral student exchange agreements with universities outside Europe). How can you apply, and what do you need to do? Please consult the  website for exhange students for more information.

2. Courses for visiting international students

The Faculty of Spatial Sciences offers many courses in English for visiting international students (bachelor and master level), including the course "Spatial Problems and Spatial Policies: The Dutch Experience".

3. Dutch Manscape Excursions

The Dutch landscape is very much a man-made landscape. Each semester, two different excursions highlight a different aspect of this 'manscape':

  1. the 11-hour excursion 'Dutch Water Management at Work', which focuses on water management and flood protection measures, and
  2. the 14-hour excursion "Randstad Holland and the Green Heart"

4. Study abroad and student exchange options for Groningen students

Students of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences of the University of Groningen have many options to spend part of their (bachelor or master) curriculum abroad - students can take courses, can conduct their bachelor project or work on (part of) their master thesis at one of the many partner universities of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences throughout the world. More information is available on the Student Portal.
