Software

Image processing and related programs used in our lab

  • IMAGIC, originally developed at our laboratory (M. van Heel and W. Keegstra, Ultramicroscopy 7 (1981) 113-130).
  • MRC Image Processing Package, Dr. R. Henderson, MRC, Cambridge.
  • GRIP (GRoningen Image Processing).
This program, developed in our lab by W. Keegstra, can be used for  image analysis, it uses a file format compatible with IMAGIC, but it also processes images from other packages with automatic image format conversion. It can act as an interface to the MRC program package by building and running MRC script files, it also provides routines for lattice refinement of MRC FFT's, origin refinement and symmetry imposing on structure factor files.
  • Image-cnv.
A program written by W. Keegstra to convert images from one data format to another.
  • XwindowsDisplay
This programs, written by W. Keegstra, can display images made by different image analysis packages.
  • EMAN
EMAN is a complete software package for reconstructing 3d models from a set of randomly oriented projections, developed by Steve Ludtke and others at the Baylor College of Medicine (Houston).
  • Digital Micrograph, from Gatan.
  • GRACE is a plug-in to Digital Micrograph, developed by Gert Oostergetel , for semi-automatic specimen selection and data acquisition for protein electron crystallography and single-particle electron microscopy, based on a slow-scan CCD camera connected to a Philips CM120 or an FEI Tecnai transmission electron microscope and control from an external computer.
