Worldwide press coverage of guest lecture at FEB by Prof. Martin Weale, Bank of England
Last week, Martin Weale, member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England, delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Economics and Business for students and researchers in the field of economics, econometrics and finance. His speech generated worldwide media coverage, from the Times to the Daily Mail and the Wall Street Journal to the Washington Post.

“We are very glad that Prof. Weale accepted our invitation,” said dr. Diego Ronchetti , assistant professor in econometrics at the FEB. “As a prominent economist and academic, his views can have a significant impact on the way we interpret current macroeconomic data, and use them to create expectations of future economic conditions.”
In his lecture in Groningen Martin Weale discussed very relevant and current issue of the impact of the crisis on productivity in Europe and the US. Because the return of business confidence has boosted productivity, Weale expects the living standards soon to rise solidly in the UK, the US and parts of Northern Europe.
