Global benchmark: “Marketing researchers University of Groningen are world class”
A benchmark study by the Journal of Marketing Education using citation counts in Google Scholar, shows that the researchers of the Department of Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen are among the best cited researchers in the world. The Journal ranked all subarea’s in Marketing.
Overall, the University of Groningen Marketing researchers rank #1 (among non-US scholars) in different subarea’s, such as Modeling and Quantitative Analysis, Marketing Management and Strategy and International Marketing, and they rank #2 in Consumer Behaviour. From a world-wide perspective they rank top 10 in the subarea's International Marketing, Marketing Management and Strategy.
"Strategy paying off"
In a first reaction to these results, research director in marketing Prof. Bob Fennis says: "This is a brilliant result! It shows that our recent strategic proliferation toward a full-breadth research oriented department, aiming to serve all subdisciplines within the marketing field, is paying off."
Prof. Verhoef ranks #2
The study also ranks individual marketing scientists based on citations to published articles. Department chairman professor Peter Verhoef ranks number 2 (among non-US scholars) in the area’s of Consumer Behaviour, and Modelling and Quantitative Analysis. From a word-wide perspective on these area's he ranks #4 in Modeling and Quantitative Analysis, and #5 in Consumer Behaviour.
Verhoef comments: "Although you should also be careful with interpreting this kind of lists, it means for me that my research has impact in the marketing discipline. Having impact is something you dream of as starting scholar, and hence I am very satisfied that I have been able to achieve this with the help of all my co-authors in the past years."
