Pre-Master’s programme Marketing

Selection procedure

The MSc Marketing is a selective programme. This will have consequences for the Pre-Master Marketing 2024 application deadline and entry requirements. The deadline for all students to apply is 1 March 2024.

Entry requirements

For admission to the Pre-MSc Marketing, you need:

  1. to meet the GPA requirement based on your education background;
  2. to write a motivation letter.
Submitting documents
Once you have applied, you will be contacted by e-mail within two weeks to let you know where you can send your motivation letter and GPA documentation.

Information GPA requirement

Depending on your previous diploma, you can check the GPA requirement:

- Students with a Dutch education background

All students with a Dutch HBO or WO diploma need to have a GPA of 6. 5 based on all courses up to and including the one but last semester of the programme.

- Students with an international education background

Students who have an international diploma from a non-Dutch university need to have a GPA of 6.5 based on all courses up to and including the one but last semester of the programme. Please note that students with an international diploma cannot apply directly to the Pre-Master’s programme, you need to apply first to the MSc Marketing.

Requirements for motivation letter

All applicants have to write a letter of motivation (500 words) where you indicate why the MSc Marketing (and the specific track) is the right choice for you. In this letter, you need to address the following questions:

  1. Why did you choose this specific master’s degree programme?
  2. How did the bachelor’s degree programme, extracurricular activities, and/or other experiences prepare you for this specific master's programme?
  3. In case it took you longer than usual to acquire the bachelor degree, please briefly explain the cause(s) of the delay.
  4. How does this master’s degree programme prepare you for your future career and/or serve your ambitions?
  5. Free space to mention anything you feel is relevant and is not addressed by the questions above.

Selection procedure

At least two members of the Selection Committee will score your motivation. Only candidates who meet the admission criteria, and GPA criteria, and scored sufficiently on their motivation letter, will be selected. Please note: All candidates who meet the selection criteria will be admitted by the Selection Committee. There is currently no maximum number of students to be accepted.


Timeline and important dates

The Pre-MSc Marketing programme starts only in September.

- Students with a Dutch diploma

  • 1 October 2023: You can make an application on Studielink. Please read the instructions for your registration in Studielink very carefully and follow the steps precisely.
  • 1 March 2024: Application deadline for the September 2024 start.
  • 15 April 2024: By this date, you will receive a decision regarding your application and selection.

- Students with an international diploma

If you will obtain an international diploma, you cannot apply directly to the Pre-MSc Marketing. Instead, you need to apply to the MSc Marketing, your application will be evaluated and if your educational background does not allow for direct entry, you might be offered a Pre-Master’s programme. Because of this procedure, you need to follow the following deadlines:

  • 1 October 2023: You can make an application for MSc Marketing programme on Studielink.
  • 1 March 2024: Application deadline for the September 2024 start.
  • 15 April 2024: By this date, you will receive a decision regarding your application and selection.
