Organizations outside the university

• DHO (sustainable higher education): A knowledge and network organization promoting the integration of knowledge about sustainability into higher education.
• SenterNovem: An agency within the Ministry of Economic Affairs which wants to contribute to a more sustainable society, with attention to people and the environment. It also manages the Long-term Agreements on energy efficiency, in which the University of Groningen also participates.
• NWO/SenterNovem Stimulation Programme: Programme run by NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) and SenterNovem, concentrating on high-quality and innovative research into sustainability.
• COPERNICUS Campus: European network of universities to promote sustainable development.
• Most sustainable city : The mayor and aldermen of Groningen have summarized their programme in the title Strong, social and sustainable. One of their ambitions is to become the most sustainable city in the Netherlands.

Student organizations

• LHUMP : The Dutch Students Platform for Sustainable Development is a network of students working for sustainable development at research universities and professional universities.
• SMOG : The Groningen Students Environment Group is the environmental workgroup of the Groningen Student Union.
