Oldenhuis, Prof. Fokko
Prof. F.T. Oldenhuis is professor of Religion and Law at the Faculty of Law, with an additional appointment at the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society. This chair was created by the Groningen University Fund. Fokko Oldenhuis (Delfzijl, 1950) gained his doctoraal degree in Dutch Law at the University of Groningen in 1973. He has been a member of the department of Civil Law at this university ever since – first as research assistant, subsequently from 1984 as lecturer and since 1985 as University Reader. In the same year Oldenhuis gained his PhD with a thesis entitled Aansprakelijkheid voor onrechtmatige daden van anderen [Liability for illegal actions performed by others]. In addition, he has been deputy justice for the Court of Appeal in Arnhem and deputy judge for the Groningen court since 1993.
Oldenhuis is actively involved in the debate about earhquakes caused by gas extraction in Groningen.
