University of Groningen praised for diversity policy
In the Talent to the Top Monitor, the University of Groningen has been complimented as an ideal example of an institution with a ‘complete diversity policy’.
The Monitor makes an annual report on progress in the number of women in the top echelons of the 203 companies who have signed the Talent to the Top Charter. The University of Groningen is one of them. The Monitor is published by the Netherlands Institute for Social Research and the Talent to the Top Monitoring Committee. On 8 October, the Monitor was presented to Minister Marja van Bijsterveldt, responsible for emancipation policy.
Diversity policy
Six success factors together play an important role in a sustainable and complete diversity policy, according to the Monitor. They are:
- determining how many women should be in the top and subtop
- keeping an eye on changes to this situation
- implementing a top-down m/f diversity policy
- making agreements at departmental level too
- making use of HR instruments as support
- active internal and external communication about diversity policy
