Background information concerning the cause of the mail service interruption, 16th of October 2009

 

Some progress has been made in the analysis of the cause of the mail disruption. SUN has made a verbal report concerning her findings on Friday morning the 16th of October. These findings need to be supplemented with the answers to several questions from technicians of the CIT and ZXFactory. Following this an official rapport will be issued by SUN during the next week.

 

The most important conclusion is that the loss of performance on Monday the 21st and Tuesday the 22nd of September is not connected to the subsequent ‘crash’ of the ZFS file system.

 

Further information will follow as soon as SUN has released the official rapport

All mail has been restored in the folder 'restore-200909'. Read our instructions how to process the restored mail.

Current state of the restoration operations on the 9th of October 2009.

The restore operations have been completed. ZX has succeeded, in cooperation with the CIT, to restore the mail which has been missing until now.  The sample survey appears to be reliable and as far as we can determine all mail has been restored. On Friday the 9th of October at 5 PM the mail will be made available to you over the course of the following days. You will find a new (mail) folder ‘restore-200909’ in your mailbox ultimately on Monday the 12th of October. In this folder all mail will be placed which has been missing until now. The ‘restore-200909’ folder has the exact same folder structure which you had on the 22nd of September.
 
Please note: As long as the restoration operations are running, it is important that you do not delete or move any mail folders! We will inform you on our website when all the mail has been delivered. After this has been completed you can view our instructions how to process the restored mail.
