From Experiments to the Public: 225 Years of the Royal Natural Science Society in Groningen

To mark the 225th anniversary of the Royal Natural Science Society (KNG), the University Museum Groningen presents From Experiments to the Public: 225 Years of the Royal Natural Science Society in Groningen. An exhibition exploring the ins and outs of a centuries-old society.
The KNG was founded in 1801 by six students, two of whom would go on to become icons of natural science in Groningen: Theodorus van Swinderen and Sibrandus Stratingh. This exhibition traces the history of the KNG from its foundation to the present day. It highlights changes in presentation techniques, anniversary celebrations, the role of women in the society, and other notable scientists from the society’s long history.
From Experiments to the Public invites visitors to participate in the KNG’s primary objective: promoting interest in the natural sciences amongst a wide audience.
