General information

The aim of the Bachelor of Science in Psychology programme is to provide students with a broad understanding of the main fields of psychology and to offer a basis for further study and independent research. The programme is designed to develop knowledge of the factors influencing human behaviour and to develop skills for the application of this knowledge in a wide range of settings, including the workplace, educational settings and community affairs. It develops such academic skills as preparing reports and giving presentations and such pracitical skills as administering diagnostic tests and conducting interviews.

Admission Requirements

To be accepted into the programme you must have had a level of education comparable to that needed to gain admittance to a Dutch university degree programme (e.g., a Dutch VWO diploma, a German Abitur or the International Baccalaureate). For the year 2011/2012 it has been decided that an English proficiency test is no longer obligatory. However it is still strongly advised that all students take such a test. Your English proficiency should be equal to or higher than C1 CEFR level. This is equivalent to a TOEFL score of at least 92 points, an IELTS score of at least 6,5 or a CAE scoring grade of at least a C.
All prospective students who are interested in the English programme should be aware that/without a minimum TOEFL score of 92 or IELTS 6.5 you will have difficulties successfully completing the programme. You can test your English by downloading our DIALANG test

Career prospects

Students who have successfully completed the Bachelor’ programme have the option of further study and a specialisation in the one-year Master of Science in Psychology programme. The Master’s programme consists of two specialisation courses, a skills practicum, a methodology course, two electives, and a Master’s thesis. Conditional admission to the Master’s programme is possible after completion of at least 165 ECTS of the Bachelor’s programme including the Bachelor’s thesis. The Master’s programme prepares students for a career in Fundamental or applied research or for a career as a consultant or policy advisor in different areas related to human behavior.
