€ 6.6 million EU grant for Rosalind Franklin Fellowship

02 August 2013

The EU has awarded a grant of € 6.6 million to the Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme of the University of Groningen. The University is investing € 10 million in the programme.

The EU grant is intended for the fifth round of the Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme, which will start on 1 October 2014 and last five years.

The Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme is designed to attract international research talent of the highest standard to the University, and to increase the percentage of women professors. The programme is intended for researchers who have the ambition to become a professor.

Board member Jan de Jeu is very happy with the EU recognition. ‘The percentage of women professors is still far too low. The University of Groningen is doing everything it can to raise it to 25%. This grant will support our efforts; it’s a real boost to a successful programme at our University.’
