Dirk Bezemer

Dirk Bezemer is hoogleraar Economie van de Internationale Financiële Ontwikkeling. Hij studeerde economie en landbouwwetenschappen aan Wageningen University en promoveerde in 2001 aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA). Hij was onderzoeker aan het Imperial College van de universiteit van Londen en werkte onder meer als beleidsadviseur ontwikkelingseconomie voor de Britse overheid.

Aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen geeft Bezemer leiding aan een onderzoeksteam dat zich richt op financiële kwetsbaarheid, economische modellen en de oorzaken en gevolgen van de financiële crisis. Hij is (mede)auteur van beleidsrapporten voor de OECD, de Wereldbank en de UNCTAD. Bezemer verschijnt regelmatig in de media en publiceert in nationale en internationale dagbladen. Sinds 2011 verwierf hij drie onderzoeksubsidies. Hij coördineert de onderzoekwerkzaamheden voor Economics of Credit and Debt binnen het Institute for New Economic Thinking. Dirk Bezemer is tevens lid van het Nederlandse Sustainable Finance Lab. Hij heeft een tweewekelijkse column in de Groene Amsterdammer.
