Page content: At KVI fundamental disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research is accompanied by technical physics, accelerator physics and applications of atomic, laser, nuclear and particle-physics technology. KVI also has an in-house theory group. Regularly new PhD students can start a PhD project in one of the different research lines of KVI. PhD degrees are awarded by the University of Groningen, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. As a PhD student at KVI you are part of the FANTOM Research School and the Groningen Graduate School of Science (GGSS). Please refer to the overview of KVI PhD theses to get an impression of topics of completed PhD projects. For PhD studies at KVI an MSc degree in Physics, Applied Physics or another relevant field is a prerequisite. Students who obtain such a position will either be employed as an employee of the University of Groningen or the FOM Foundation or will obtain a grant, that will allow for sustainance.
