Page content: KVI is an interfacultary institute of the University of Groningen, governed by an advisory board called the Raad van Advies. This board receives advice on science issues from the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) . The SAC has six prominent international physicists as members. KVI also has a Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) , which advises the KVI Director on scientific proposals for experiments with AGOR. The PAC has five members, all of whom are independent and external to KVI. The daily management of KVI is performed by the Director, who is, by the Board of the University of Groningen, appointed for a period of five years and is accountable to this Board. The Director has chosen to appoint a Scientific Deputy Director and a Technical Deputy Director who together with the Director form the Directorate. A bi-weekly Management Overleg (MO) is held by the directorate together with the executive secretary and the heads of the personnel and financial departments to decide on management issues. Representatives of all six research lines together with the Directorate form the Focus Team, which advises on institute policy issues and budgets. See the organization chart [PDF]. KVI has an Institute Council (Dienstraad) which serves the interests of the KVI employees. KVI is the principal participant in the international research school FANTOM (‘Fundamental and Applied Nuclear and aTOMic Physics’), with partner institutes in Belgium (Gent, Leuven), Germany (Münster) and France (Orsay/Paris) .
