The UCG offers courses in genderstudies and conducts research concerning gender issues in a social context. Every year UCG offers a General Education course on “male/female and diversity in Science and nature’. Also each year, the UCG publishes a study guide on Genderstudies with information on all the education on genderstudies given at the university, listed per faculty. Besides education and research, the UCG has a number of university tasks in organisational and co-ordinating areas, namely the initiation and co-ordination of contacts among existing genderstudies at the various faculties (Social Sciences, Theology, Law, Arts and Philosophy), participation in the University Committee for Women’s Affairs, and representation of the State University Groningen at (inter)national bodies on genderstudies such as the Dutch Society for Women Studies (Dutch: Nederlands Genootschap Vrouwenstudies, NGV) and the Association of Institutions of Feminist Education and Research in Eruope (AOIFE). Lastly, UCG bears responsibility for the policy and organisation of the Centre for PhD students and Postdocs. (PPG).
