Information for VWO teachers


The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has the following to offer to VWO teachers:

Visit the Science LinX Science Center with your group  
Your pupils will be introduced to natural sciences and technology in a playful way by means of experimental setups and games.

Book the Discovery Truck for your school
You can have the University of Groningen Discovery Truck visit your school. The RUG Discovery is a travelling laboratory and lecture hall for pupils in 3 VWO and above. In consultation with you as a teacher we will give a guest lecture, for example on how to make your own solar cells.

Studiestijgers: new teaching products
Studiestijgers is a network of about twenty secondary schools and the University who together aim to develop innovative teaching products in the fields of biology, physics, mathematics, chemistry and computer science.

Teacher days: Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science...
The Faculty also maintains contact with teachers via the annual Chemistry Day and Mathematics Day, where teachers can discuss developments in secondary education.

If you have any questions: Science Support Desk for secondary school pupils
The Science Support Desk is available to your pupils for any science-related questions, for example questions about their profile-related assignments or practical assignments.

Passie voor wetenschap kan niet vroeg genoeg beginnen

Wetenschap is leuk. Dat is de boodschap van wetenschapper in hart en nieren Theo Jurriens. Met zijn RUG Discovery Truck, een rondreizend laboratorium en collegezaal in één, draagt hij zijn fascinatie voor vooral de natuurwetenschappen over aan jonge scholieren.
