Bachelor courses

The Theoretical Biology group participates in two Bachelor programmes at the University of Groningen: Biology and Life Science & Technology. Our contributions include the basic course Wiskunde & Statistiek (Mathematics & Statistics) in the joint part of the first year, and several courses in the Major programmes following the joint programme:

• Evolutionaire Ecologie (Evolutionary Ecology)
• Biostatistiek (Biostatistics)

Master courses & research projects

We offer a number of advanced courses that are available in the Master programmes Biology, Ecology & Evolution and Marine Biology:

• Groningen Lectures in Theoretical Biology
• Mathematical Models in Ecology & Evolution
• Advanced Statistics
• C++ for Biologists

Embedded in the Master programme Ecology & Evolution is the Top programme Evolutionary Biology aiming at talented students pursuing a research career. Within this Top programme, our group provides the course Theoretical Ecology & Evolution. The Top programme is also available as an Erasmus Mundus programme (see the MEME website for more information).

In addition, we offer a broad spectrum of student research projects in the Master programmes Biology and Ecology & Evolution.

Graduate courses

Finally, we take part in a number of national courses for PhD students, in particular in the courses Theoretical Ecology and Life History Theory. Most of the above MSc courses are also open to interested PhD students.
