Because of 20th anniversary as professor of finance at the FEB, prof. dr. Robert van der Meer sounded the gong at NSYE Euronext yesterday. Van der Meer and a group of international students in the field of international asset management, opened the trading day in Amsterdam on 17 March.
"The subject of investment has become highly visible. Recent developments in the financial markets have had a major impact on financial institutions such as banks, insurers and pension funds. Applying ALM to investments has become extremely important", according to Mr van der Meer. Many foreign students are interested in institutional asset management. Fellow lecturer Dr. Roelof Salomons, a partner at Pelargos Capital, is responsible for teaching through practical case studies. While the class is in session, students can participate in the investment game MyWallet, developed by Websiteexpress. This gives international students the opportunity to participate in investment education via internet.
