Purpose

The Documentation Centre Dutch Political Parties (in Dutch abbreviated as DNPP) was founded at the University of Groningen in 1973. Since 1991 it has been affiliated with the University Library.

Its purpose is to provide systematic and generally accessible documentation concerning Dutch political parties. The emphasis lies on activities of parties outside the First and Second Chamber of Parliament, as parliamentary activities are documented by the Parliamentary Documentation Centre (PDC) at the University of Leiden. The collection of the DNPP contains items from the late nineteenth century, when the first Dutch political parties were established. However, the major part consists of documents produced after 1945.

The purpose of the DNPP is threefold:

  • to collect documents about and from Dutch political parties and to make them accessible to the public;
  • to provide information about Dutch political parties;
  • to promote and support academic research on Dutch political parties.

Staff

The Staff of the DNPP consists of:

  • Dr. G. Voerman, Director
  • Dr. P. Lucardie, Research Associate
  • Drs. B.H. de Boer and Mrs. D. van Rheenen, Documentalists
  • Drs. G. Auping, Archivalist
