The implementation of Deskalert is cancelled due to performance problems
DeskAlert will be made available on all PCs with a University Workstation (UWP) and will replace SharpReader.
What is DeskAlert?
DeskAlert aims to inform you of any service interruptions and maintenance with regard to the central University of Groningen IT services, complementary to Twitter, Yammer and the CIT Service Desk fault page. Students and staff with a University Workstation will receive the information at the same time in the form of a ticker at the bottom of the screen.
If you are using SharpReader as your RSS reader, you can also use Internet Explorer [PDF]or Mozilla Firefox [PDF]instead.
When?
• CIT and UFB staff: 8 November 2011
• FEB and FRW staff: 15 November 2011
• FWN staff: 22 November 2011
• LET / JUR / GGW / FIL / GMW staff: 29 November 2011
• BUR / CVB / BIB staff: 6 December 2011
• UMCG staff: 13 December 2011
• University of Groningen students: 20 December 2011
After Deskalert has been installed on your UWP, SharpReader will not be started automatically anymore. It will still be available via RUGmenu > Internet & Communication > Rug Nieuws.
