Page content: The IBM BlueGene/P at the University of Groningen is one of the fastest computers in the world. The system consists of three racks each with 32 nodecards. Each nodecard has 32 computercards and each computecard has a 4 core CPU and 2 GB of memory. The total comes to 12,288 CPU cores and 6TB memory. It has been installed for Astron as part of the LOFAR project, in which the University participates. Most of the machine will be used for real-time processing of the LOFAR data.
